The Opwag project in the Northern Cape included the construction of internal gravel roads of varying widths, tailored to a 2-3% cross-fall and fortified with a 150mm wearing course. In addition, GIC implemented storm water channels to bolster the area’s drainage capabilities.

Furthermore, an internal water reticulation network consisting of 75mm to 200mm diameter Class 9 pipes was established. These installations were coupled with house connections, water meters, fire hydrants, and isolation valves, all tailored to effective water supply and safety.

For wastewater management, GIC focused on the construction of 160mm and 200mm diameter uPVC class 34 solid wall or class 400 structured wall sewer pipes. In addition, the system was  integrated with 110mm diameter Erf connections and enhanced functionality through the construction of precast concrete manholes, all fitted with heavy-duty concrete covers. This comprehensive approach illustrates our commitment to achieving optimal results and meeting the highest standards in professional, technical development The project began in May 2022 and was completed in October 2023, with 748 stands serviced.
